DBT Skills System
Emotion regulation is a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills system to help students understand the function of emotions, the “action urge” that accompanies each emotion, whether to heed or oppose these urges, and change negative thinking patterns and push for positive behavioural changes. The skills also help reduce vulnerability, increase resiliency against unwanted emotions, and improve overall mental health. Balancing acceptance of the emotion and change in the behaviour.
Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) is a process that uses the client’s feedback to inform their treatment. FIT empowers the client and loved ones by involving them in the treatment process. The client feedback process usually involves the client’s life experience, work and daily life stories, and family roles and support. This inclusive and self-actualizing approach helps inform the client, family, and support workers about the treatment process and set defined goals and plans for the next step. Our team of qualified trained staff will support the clients as they transition into the various levels of the treatment.
Our students are given the opportunity to express themselves and identify possible challenges in the workplace. We teach self regulation and emotional management in a safe and supportive environment so they can succeed at work.
